In December 1969, work started on this new shopping complex just off Orchard Road. The building developed by S.K. Chee Pte Ltd was designed by Design Partnership, who was behind People's Park Complex—the first such development in Singapore. The $7.5-million mall officially opened in 1972. Six years later, the mall added a new extension that was completed in 1980.

The mall underwent a renovation project in 1994 to bring it on par with neighbouring developments. It was after this that this logo was replaced. In 2022, the mall was en-bloc and demolished.
