This coin with an "S" curve across was created for the newly corporatised Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS). The blue and grey logo has a square in the middle to symbolise the "integrity and reason" of the role of this tax authority. The diagonal curve symbolise IRAS image as a "service-oriented, professional and efficient" agency.
Deaf and mute graphic designer Ho Sum Tuck from Octogram Design won $4,000 in a contest organised to find the agency a logo. The second and third prize winners were Ms Ong Yoke Peng and Mr Goh Chin Hoo.
Along with the logo, a new blue and grey uniform were also created by Esther Tay of Estabelle Fashions for IRAS front-line personnel.
