Officially opened in 1992, the government centre offering a space to hold design workshops and clinics, a resource library and offices for the Singapore Design Council, a national advisory board set up in 1991 to promote design awareness in Singapore.
The three-storey centre occupied the former carpark of the Capitol building which was renovated for this purpose. The centre moved out after three years.
