A biennial competition started by Sin Chew Jit Poh to raise the graphic design standards in Singapore. The Chinese language newspaper had organised a graphic competition as early as 1973, but only revived the event again 1978/79.
For this third edition, participants could submit works in the following categories: Press Advertisements; Poster; Packaging & Label. Each had an open section and one for students.
The chief judge of this edition was Sze I-Ming (徐一鳴) who also designed the catalogue. Others on the judging committee included:
