The company named after the American astronaut Neil Armstrong was started in 1974 by Gilbert Ong Peng Koon and a partner to supply robber foam products such as seals and gaskets for the marine and industrial sectors. As its business grew over the years, the company was converted into a private limited in 1980. Its name was also changed from "Armstrong Industrial and Marine Supplies" to "Armstrong Industries Singapore". This was also when it likely adopted this logo.
Along with Singapore's economic upgrade in the 1980s, The company expanded in the following years into the telecommunications, consumer electronics and information technology industries. It also regionalised and even opened a joint venture with Japanese conglomerate Bridgestone Corporation in 1988, eventually opening a factory in Malaysia and Thailand too. In 1995, the company launched an initial public offering and was listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange as the Armstrong Industrial Group.
Today, it offers solutions in noise, vibration, heat and safety management. Its logo has also since been replaced.
