Tthe logo is both a "correct tick" to symbolise the passing of car inspection and the alphabet "V". Each of the lanes represents the four main racial groups in Singapore. The centre wholly owned by the Singapore Labour Foundation was set up because the government introduced legislation for compulsory inspection of all private cars.
The foundation originally a competition for the logo. However, the entries were deemed unsuitable and William Lee of Central Design was asked to come up with a logo instead.
