In 1987, Singapore's first mass rapid transit (MRT) system began its inaugural service with just five stations: Yio Chu Kang, Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Braddell and Toa Payoh. Over the year, nine more stations were added expanding the line from just north to south but also east to west. In 1988, the line was officially launched with 41 stations. The stamps showcase the entire network as well as how the train runs both aboveground and underground in Singapore.
