In 1990, an integrated ticketing system was introduced across Singapore's public transportation system. The "Farecard" administered by TransitLink allowed commuters to pay travel on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) as well as the two major bus service companies, Singapore Bus Service (SBS) and Trans-Island Bus Services (TIBS).
Theis new system was depicted on what was one of the earliest set of Farecards issued when the system was introduced. They came in three different colours to depict the different fares commuters paid based on age: Adult (blue), Child/Student (pink) and Senior Citizen (purple).
