When the state-run Radio and Television Singapura (RTS) was corporatised in 1980, a public competition was organised to find a new logo. From the 4,400 entries received was this winning design by Lawrence Wong. He turned the initials of the renamed Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) into a flowing design. The stylised letters in gold are flashed against a blue background.
Wong took three weeks to come up with the logo and received a prize of $5,000. He had submitted 10 entries for the contest.
