Artist and filmmaker Ho Tzu Nyen was selected by the National Arts Council to represent Singapore at the 54th Venice Biennale. This invite was to official opening of his artwork, The Cloud of Unknowing, an audio and visual installation piece sited in an old church, exploring the multiple roles of the cloud within art, “as an historical object, a representation of emptiness, as exercises for the imagination, as screens for projection.”
Asylum carried through this concept in its accompanying invite, which was each assembled by hand to contain a crumpled book page as a reference to a scene in Ho’s film.
