Ming Court Hotel was a 350-room hotel officially opened in June 1970. The luxury hotel took on an oriental theme inspired by the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century. This was expressed in the pagoda-inspired roof of its architecture designed by Kumpulan Akitek, and continued in the interiors which was decorated in Ming reproductions and the red, gold and white of Ming style. It was also evident in its logo that remade an Oriental symbol in modern sensibilities.
The hotel also housed an arcade of 15 boutiques and shopes. This included a Ghenghis Grill serving the finest European food and Babarella, a "high camp, theatrical and futuristic" discotheque.
