The book was written by Molly Chan Hong Lian, Foo Song Yang and Josie Low for the Ministry of Education's Primary Pilot Project. This was a 1970s experiment to educate children through play instead of the conventional reading and writing process.

It was one of four books in the "Green Series" reading scheme for Primary Two students.
