The logo of Singapore's then largest opposition party is made up of a five-point red star cutting into the upper edge of a blue circle on a white background. The star represents the socialist objectives of democracy, freedom, equality, peace and prosperity. The blue circle stands for the unity of the people. The white background represents purity.
It was unveiled together with the party's constitution on 4 September, just under a month after the party was officially registered. The party was formed by a breakaway faction from the then ruling People's Action Party.
