Designers Edmund Seet, Kai Yao and Yasser Suratman decided to create this protest poster while discussing the war during a dinner at a Japanese restaurant. The setting inspired the use of bonsai as the main visual.
The trio were part of what they called GraphicTaskForce, an adhoc collective formed to self-initiate projects outside their day jobs. The name was a play on the popular London design studio Graphic Thought Facility, and also seemingly inspired by Singapore's bureaucratic nature, often creating task forces to address social issues.
The collective were also behind aestheticsanonymous, which created graphic statements critiquing design and visual culture.
