Double Pagoda

This logo for a manufacturer of edible oil and sauces, Chee Seng Oil Factory, founded by Lim Tai Tin during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore. It consists of two pagodas, which are landmarks of the founder's hometown in Fujian, China.

"Double Pagoda" was a brand developed by the second generation owner in the 1980s as part of a move to sell its product overseas. According to its then managing director, Lim Boon Hee, the idea to create better packaging came from an American wholesaler at a Trade Development Board exhibition. He hired Su Yeang Designs and spent $15,000 to redesign the company's bottles.
